The Dentzels of Shelburne Museum

On a recent trip to Vermont, we stopped by the wonderful Shelburne Museum to visit their beautiful Dentzel figures. All of which are on display with their original factory paint.

The figures are from a three row stationary machine which included 29 Standing Horses, 11 Menagerie Animals (1 Tiger, 1 Lion, 3 Deer, 3 Goats, 3 Giraffes), and 4 chariots. The carousel operated at Sacandaga Park, Northville, NY, from 1903 to 1930 and at Piseco Lake, Speculator, NY, from 1930 to 1951. It was aquired by the museum in 1952.

For more information, visit the Shelburne Museum's website at: shelburnemuseum.org, or visit their Facebook page which shows museum staff members working on restoring these beautiful creatures to their original splendor.
